My Return to a Fully Satiated Life
It's been over a year since I last wrote Satiated, but I am back and better than ever
The last I wrote to you, I had just moved into my Greenpoint apartment and was eager to get settled after three years of living nomadically. Satiated was born out of my love for food (and secret dream to become a food writer one day) but was quickly left on the back burner as I had bigger fish to fry; such as navigating the deepest insecurities that sweet ‘ole NYC brings up, which encouraged a more dedicated focus towards my first newsletter, The Process.
Thankfully in the past year, my love for food, eating, and discovering the meaning of living life fully satiated has not diminished. In fact, I feel more inspired than ever to bring food, eating, exploring the world and feeling satiated in every nook and cranny of my life to the forefront of my attention. Over the past year or so, I’ve realized that I could process my inner world all I want but at the end of the day, I care most about the quality of my daily life and that’s what I want to bring you with Satiated.
What does it mean to feel satiated?
When I think about the feeling of being satiated, I think about the first summer tomato or ripe peach in July. I reminisce on the meals that are stored in my memory as an experience rather than a blurry image of a few ingredients thrown together on a plate. I close my eyes and return to watching my Dad eat the mouthwatering vanilla ghee shrimp at Masala y Maiz or the countless Sunday afternoons drinking orange wine with my best friends. Feeling satiated is most often associated with food, but what if its understanding could stretch to a broader scope of how we create our lives?
Feeling satiated is about feeling complete – not overly full, not craving anything else – completely content and at peace in this moment.Â
It’s a life filled with intention, presence, and the courage to choose the things that make you feel good. It’s about slowing down enough to be able to ask yourself, what am I craving?, instead of constantly running through your life on autopilot. You can feel satiated after your meals, and I hope you do. Or you can feel satiated at the end of each day – a bigger picture understanding that the food we eat is important, but so is how we spend our time, who we spend our time with, and the environment that surrounds us.Â
What to Expect from Satiated?
Travel Guides: After 4+ years of traveling and living nomadically, I discovered a nack and passion for discovering the best hidden gems, curating cohesive itineraries, and exploring cities/neighborhoods through the lens of a local. I love giving you a piece of my experience living in each of these places through recommendations and curated guides. Upcoming guides include: Greenpoint, East Village, and Mexico City!
Solo Date Guides: Spending quality time tending to my relationship to self has, by far, been one of the greatest sources of feeling satiated in my life. It is the container through which I was able to get clear on my values and what it means to feel fully satiated in my life. I love solo dates, but I also love friend dates and romantic dates. In my solo date guides, I will give an inside look into my tried and true dates in NYC (and beyond). A ferry ride, Japanese weaving class, and the best matcha in DUMBO, anyone? How about a leisurely afternoon walking through galleries, gardens, and a delicious Italian market on the Upper East Side?
Seasonal Produce Guides: Understanding how to live (and eat) seasonally has given me a deeper understanding of the cyclical nature of life and how each season requires different nutrients, offers different wisdom, and allows me to process all of life while being fully present to and satiated in this moment.
Essays: What does it mean to be satiated and how do you bring that into your every day? In these essays, I will explore themes of my own journey including disordered eating and intuitive eating, questioning my relationship with alcohol, defining my values to discover the ingredients needed to satiate me on my path, and more.
When I think about the life I want to live, and the life I want to share with you, I want it to be one that feels fucking good. I want to feel fully satiated from the foods I eat, the connections I tend to, the things I spend my time doing. Through the process of my own self discovery, I have learned the things that I need in my life to feel fully satiated in my life, and being. And in both The Process and Satiated, I hope to inspire you to do that discovery for yourself. While we’re all entitled to our own life ethos, and Satiated always encourages you to listen to your own cravings, I hope to remind you that a life that feels good is accessible to all, even if it feels like a far away dream.Â
Satiated is about living a full, expansive, unapologetic life. It is about honoring your cravings and trusting yourself to know when it’s time to change. Satiated encourages the awareness that more is not always better and often, we have everything we need right in front of us. No more, no less – feeling satiated is about feeling perfectly content with everything as is.Â
I can’t wait for you to dig in.Â
