Where SATIATED Was Born
Believe it or not, Naturally Nicoletta, started out with the intention of being a food blog. After having a countless people ask for restaurant recommendations and recipes (which were not and still are not my jam), I caved and started sharing more meal inspiration, restaurant recommendations and content around food. This was short lived as I was also experience disordered eating at the time and only eating like Trader Joe’s potstickers, edamame and gluten free avocado toast. So I gave it up to talk more about mental health, then travel, then spirituality and now I talk about everything under the sun with an emphasis on Buddhism and living a fully embodied life. More on Naturally Nicoletta here.
Thankfully, my love for food (cooking and eating) did not disappear except for those grim years when I cared more about the way my body looked rather than if my soul felt nourished. I grew up in an Italian-American household. I was the family taste tester from as far back as I can remember and have been cooking since I left my childhood home for college.
Food is a central part of my life, and I think it always will be. But it feels sacred. And because of that, I have shied away from making it anything other than something for me and to share with friends and family (and the occasional date, if you’re lucky). As I enter a new year, and am pushing the boundaries of my own self expression, I want to do more with my passion for food. Not only sharing recipes and restaurants but also talking about what it means to be fully satiated – how do we do this with the things we consume? How do we do it with how we consume? How do you life a life in which you are fully satiated? Through the lens of food but also zooming out into your life as a whole.
